Ysera's Outcry: Ahn'Qiraj Gate's Premature Opening

Well it looks like my previous post about AQ opening on the morning I left for Connecticut was a misguided prediction. In fact, the Gate of Ahn'Qiraj was opened in the wee hours of this very morning, mere hours before scheduled maintenance, while most of Ysera's population were fast asleep.

Blizzard's response so far.

The act is seen by most as griefing and quite a few are up in arms over how one person can single-handedly cause the entire server to lose out on such a major event.

Screenshot of original post by the previous owner of the Valafar account.

Axion's reaction to the events. EDIT: Looks like Tork deleted his public apology on the behalf of Axion.

I, on the other hand, got home from work just in time to join my new guildmates in Sillithus, right after the gong was rung, landing a killing blow on one of many Colossal Anubisath Warbringers rampaging the landscape.

While what happened is morally incomprehensible, the truth of the matter is that Blizzard's hands are tied. If Blizzard started regulating the game based on moral ambiguities, Customer Service would be flooded with petty complaints. No real problems would ever be solved and not everyone would be truly satisfied.

If there was a rollover the few guilds who were ready to ring the gong will have what they want. But at the expense of the server majority, whom would lose any and all progress made during the timeframe of the rollover. Personally I would like to see those who were ready at the moment the Gates were opened be compensated with whatever rewards worked for. Blizzard cannot and should not dimiss this. But a server wide rollover is not the solution.

A Bump thread demanding more communication from Blizzard. EDIT: Locked.

To tell you the truth, I am more concerned with this whole fiasco turning into a native vs transfer conflict. This was the act of a native who had inherited the Valafar account from a guildmate. This guildmate, also a native, inherited this account sometime ago from a friend who had retired from WoW long before transfers were available.

Unfortunatly not many people realize this, which is a shame.

From Connecticut to Catalyst

Sometimes playing WoW isnt enough to relieve the daily hustle and bustle stress of city life. So when I was invited to a cabin retreat this past Saturday I was gone before you could say 'Gnome Busters'. I missed the opening of AQ but 2 very theraputic days in the green seclusion of rural Connecticut more then made up for it.

So when I logged in this morning my natural high took a nose dive when a 'former' guildmate whispered me with the news of our guild falling apart over the weekend. I was shocked and very disappointed when I learned that the GM decided to leave for greener pastures in another guild. He had great potential as a leader. I am very sad he felt there was no other choice but to give up.

So now I am in Catalyst with a few of the old DE members.

Dynamic Forum Signatures

I have just discovered the site RPGOutfitter.com, the developers has created an addon, CharacterProfiler, that will allow you to upload and display any and all information about your toons. Its a bit of manual labour but well worth the learning process. The information uploaded can be used to show guildmates the recipes you know and the mats needed to create them or display your current talent build to allys and enemies alike. The list goes on and on....

My favorite service using the information you upload, is of their own creation, SigMage, a forum signature API. As of now customization has been put on the backburner in favour for intense development of WOW-GM, a robust and feature pack guild management tool.

There is no documentation for the available basic signatures aside from the user-supported forum, but if wading through 40+ pages of posts seems daunting, post your questions here and I will try to help you as best as I can.

- Enjoy!

Posted by request. This interface is the latest of many incarnations. I have been tinkering with it since my lowbie levels, so far this is my favorite setup. But then again I am perfectionist and will prolly change it again soon enough. I will post new snapshots when that happens.

DE Does ZG

Sorta.

Statetrooper is a trooper indeed. He was able to recruit enough people for a full guild ZG run today. Unfortuantly we did not have enough healers to get past the first boss. We did very well for a guild full of first timers. We have another ZG scheduled for tomorrow night. I have to work but I got my fingers crossed for all my guildmates.

World of... Datecraft?

Looking to hookup for a one night instance?

Have a gnome fetish?

Datecraft is the place for you. As of July 31, the site boasted membership numbers of 1000 horny, erm earger players looking for in-game love. Thats a ratio of 6:1 male to female, although from the female profiles plastered all over the front page, anyone would think there was more, but no, those ARE the only females registered to the site.

And in related news, How to Meet Women Playing Warcraft.

Just in case you were curious, I am a real live female gamer.

Know that I miss you.

Very much.

Calendar Events

Not much going on for the month of August, besides the heatwave but I do plan on cashing in on the Darkmoon Faire hustle.

My skinning knife is razor sharp and ready.

Darkmoon Faire (Elwynn) August 7 - August 13
Call to Arms: Alterac Valley! August 4 - August 7
Call to Arms: Warsong Gulch! August 11 - August 14
Call to Arms: Arathi Basin! August 18 - August 21

Calls to Arms is double honor weekend. You can usualy tell which battlegrounds are affected by which emmissaries are visiting the cities.

The Darkmoon Faire magically appears in either Mulgore or Elwynn Forest on the first friday of each month. It is a festival of games, fortunes and cheap booze. But if you are the more adventurous sort you can earn tickets from various vendors for reputation and prizes, by turning in grusome items such as the skins of animals or the blood of scorpids. If your disposition is more delicate you can try your hand at collecting Darkmoon Deck cards for magical trinkets.

The Dark Empire

No I am not talking about Star Wars.

I am talking about a guild freshly created by Statetrooper, formerly of Requiem. He has big plans for this guild and you can can see it manifested @ The Immortal Alliance. Not only is Statetropper the lord and master of this new empire, he is also quite the graphics artist. Check out his avatar art in the forums.

Althought we are currently the only members, I am very much looking forward to experiencing the endgame content from the ground up.
